Martin and his crew have quite a few interesting tales to share about early Nevada and Lake Tahoe. We hope to see you at 7:00 p.m.at the Elks Lodge, 517 Rock Blvd., Sparks. We will be having our general meeting but guests are always welcomed to join in the fun.
SATURDAY, August 7th CLEAN LONGFORD PARK

Host your very own
IRISH HOUSE CONCERT

What is a House Concert?

  • An intimate musical performance for 10 or more people.
  • Can be in a living room, den, patio, garage, or even a driveway.
  • Easy as putting together a neighborhood potluck, and twice as fun!
    • How Do I Host A House Concert?

    • Invite at least 10 friends to come to your house to enjoy some unique, Live Irish Music. Encourage your friends to invite their friends.
    • You don't need elaborate settings; just some chairs and a place for the music to be heard and enjoyed.
      • What Does it Cost?

      • NOTHING! The performance is FREE. Your only expense will be whatever refreshments you may choose to provide.
      • You get to share an entertaining and unique evening of Live Irish Music with friends and family, and perhaps meet some new friends.
      • Host receives a free copy of the artist's CD album.

Here are a few things to consider:

        • Enough chairs for everyone and ask for help.
        • An area for the performer(s) to set up.
        • Electrical power for the performaer.
        • Refreshments like finger snacks and soft drinks.
        • Reserve a date for your House Concert Now

          PRESIDENTS MESSAGE - August 2004

The first of two "Farmers' Markets" are over. The July 1st one was really something. For awile, I felt like Dorothy, back in Kansas. The wind came up and blew like the dickens. Then it rained off and on and got some of our stuff wet. Then it cleared up some and we were able to sell some tickets, and sign up a few people who wanted info on our dinner and other activities of SADOE.

A couple of our newest members came to help. Charlie and Noreen hauled and set up the tent and tables. We really owe them for being such great helpers. The Farmers' Market people have limited the "non-profit" groups to only three nights a season. They charge the other people (vendors) much more for their space. So like they say, "Money talks". When we get in, we really have to make a lot of sales to compensate for rainy days or venues where we didn't get a good crowd.

Those of you who haven't been too regular in attending meetings, come on down, meet some of the new members and your new board. Come and gripe or tell us what you want and expect from SADOE. But you have to be there to be heard.

See you at the next meeting; bring a friend or prospective member.

If you have ideas that would help the Sons and Daughters of Erin with fund raising project ideas and/or to make them more visable in the community, please contact one of our members or call me at 825-8233, or send a fax at 359-2073 or email your ideas to patlantz@softcom.net and I will pass all your ideas to the Public Relations Committee.

Tapadh leat, (Thank You) Hugh Lantz (President)
